Engineering Recruiter Grows Partnerships in Electricity Sector

Specialist engineering recruiter, JSM Appointments, started 2012 on a high note after winning a tender with Northern Territory Power and Water Corporation to provide them with recruitment services for hard-to-fill positions as well as executive positions for the next three years (see - NT Gov – Tenders Online).
Their inclusion in the company’s panel of preferred suppliers boosted JSM Appointments’ strategy to focus on sourcing skills for the electricity supply, civil infrastructure and public utility sector and represents JSM’s first formal supplier agreement outside of WA. JSM Appointments is currently a member of Western Power’s panel of preferred suppliers of recruitment services, and has been retained by Horizon Power to assist with their recruitment of engineering skills.
“We see this as a growth sector as Australia races to catch up on energy infrastructure demand created by extended growth caused by the mineral resources boom,” says John Masters, Director, JSM Appointments. “Our business is managed by its founding partners who have significant experience in this sector – including extensive engineering, management and HR experience while employed directly in the power supply industry overseas and in Australia.”
He goes on to say that JSM Appointments’ success has been largely due to the fact that it deals exclusively with one skill sector – professional engineers and associated skills. “While we will continue to serve the profession in all industries it makes sense to focus on a narrower industry sector when providing our more specialised search and talent management services for hard to fill vacancies,” Masters explains.
The fact that JSM also enjoys a growing reputation among engineering consulting firms and contractors who employ skills to provide design and project services to the power supply industry, afford both clients and candidates access to a greater range of skills and employment options.

Reply by admin: I am unable to comment on your particular situation but the truth is that candidates, too often, are not given the real reasons for not being successful in securing either an interview or being selected for the role. As a result, candidates will come to their own conclusions that are not necessarily correct. There may be a range of factors that could be involved. I would encourage you to follow up with people where you have submitted your CV and ask for honest feedback which may assist you moving forward. Sonja Masters - Principal Consultant, JSM Appointments

Kurt Rieger: I have applied for engineering, project management and leadership positions for 2 years without any interest at all - Engineering skill at higher age are not considered - its not skills but youth they want
