Engineering Recruitment and HR Consulting specialists, JSM Appointments, offered their support at a recent cross cultural awareness session to candidates and their spouses who recently immigrated to Australia. Cross Cultural Training initiatives (CCT) are designed to increase awareness and understanding of underlying cultural differences between communities. “Cultures which frequently appear similar on the surface may have subtle, yet significant differences which can result in unnecessary workplace stress and misunderstandings,” says Diana Lewin, Cross Cultural facilitator and consultant at Meeting Point. Feedback was very positive and attendees felt they could relate Meeting Point's strategies to their work situations where wide cultural diversity is present. Others mentioned that they were not feeling as lonely as they understood that other newly migrated families were facing similar situations. The session also gave them the opportunity to gain new friends.
