New Financial Year bodes well for Engineer Recruiting
A renewed enthusiasm to recruit has steadily brought stability and fresh optimism to the market as employers realise they are understaffed after downsizing during the economic downturn, the report states. A New Financial Year is also a popular time for businesses to gain or lose key contracts and rising vacancy activity naturally leads to a spike in candidate interest, particularly from those quality passive candidates that keep an eye on the market.
According to the report, employers will be looking to recruit, amongst others, the following skills in the first quarter of this New Financial Year:
Construction: Those with high rise experience or high-end fit-out experience; Site Managers; Foremen/women; Contract Administrators.
Energy: Transmission and Distribution design candidates (Victoria); Substation Engineers (Queensland); Electrical Design Engineers, Linespeople and Civil Engineers (Western Australia); HV Electricians across renewable (Hydro), and transmission and distribution and Primary and Secondary Design Engineers (New South Wales).
Engineering: Engineers with roads, highways, traffic and transportation experience; Drafters/Designers with 12D experience; Civil and Structural Drafters; Environmental Engineers; Senior Electrical Engineers.
Resources & Mining: Surveyors; Electrical & Mechanical Engineers; Mine Managers; Ventilation Officers ; Undermanagers (NSW). Coal Geologists and Coal Mine Engineers (Queensland). Geologists; Heavy Duty Fitters; Mechanical Project Engineers (Northern Territory). Mining Engineers; Drill and Blast Engineers; Geologists (South Australia). Geologists, Mining Engineers, Metallurgists, HD Fitters, Excavator Operators, Electrical Trades, Mechanical Design Engineers, Study Managers, Construction Engineers, Estimators and Planners (Western Australia).
